Ara Peterson: Glass Eye

アラ・ピーターソンの日本初個展となる本展では、彼の代表作とも言える映像がフリーズした瞬間を切り取ったような複雑なレリーフの作風から一転、ウォールマウントアートを立体的なオブジェとしてとらえることの可能性をより深く追求した新作Glass Eyeを発表。クラシックピンボールがデザインソースとなり、大胆なラインのペインティングにファウンドオブジェクトを象徴するガラスのディスクを埋め込んだミニマルな作品集。シャイな彼のマニアックな一面を表す、緻密に計算されたデザインと色彩の力強さに圧倒されました。
マサチューセッツ出身。RISD （ロードアイランド・スクール・オブ・デザイン）で映像とアニメーションを学び、2000年代から世界各国で個展を開催。

Further exploring the possibilities of wall mounted art as object, these pieces are newly focused, drastically pared down compositions in wood, glass and paint. Bold surface design and embedded glass discs hint at emerging characters. Simultaneously revealing, concealing and distorting, inspired by details in classic pinball playfield art and the potential of found objects.
